This is a quick recipe that is tasty, simple and refreshing. Pair it up with some delicious tortilla chips, salsa and beer and you’ve got the makings of a classy Sunday NFL football party. The recipe includes a packet of seasoning from Simply Organic, a seasoning we’ve come to love and won’t make Guacamole without. I’ve included a picture of the packaging after the jump!

Chocolate Raspberry Layer Cake with Chocolate Ganache Frosting

This past weekend there was some birthday celebrating taking place at our house. My partner was celebrating his birthday, and he took a different approach this year. one of the most important parts of a birthday celebration is the cake and Andre let me explore my cake making skills, as he had no requests for a type of cake. Naturally, I selected a time consuming, but absolutely deliciously moist cake. I would recommend baking this cake for any kinds of celebrations – even the ones that involve celebrating the simple things, like driving home and not stalling the car.

Thanksgiving Prime Rib Roast

Thanksgiving Prime Rib Roast

It’s thanksgiving weekend in Canada and our first feast of the weekend was a quiet affair that we both enjoyed. Out local grocer had prime rib roast on sale this week ( @ 4.97/lb, who can resist?) and this was our first foray into this much hyped roast, and it delivered.

I marinated the roast overnight in a simple beer and garlic marinade, then cooked it with a sliced onion and some red wine for added flavor. We added to that some fresh sweet carrots and oven broiled antique fingerling potatoes, and a lovely glass of Shiraz.
